The company started in the 1920s as a Harlem stationery store named Brause Brothers Inc. In the 1930s, brothers Jack and Samuel Brause acquired the building and subsequently shifted their focus towards real estate investing. By the 1950s, the business relocated to Midtown, where it still operates today, and by 1963, it was officially renamed Brause Realty.
